Louise Edwards

Lou began her musical journey learning classical piano before teaching herself other genres using her mother’s vintage sheet music. She studied Music and Special Educational Needs at university, learning piano, classical guitar, and percussion. Early in her career, she worked at a Steiner special school and trained in music therapy with Clive Robbins of the Nordoff-Robbins organisation. At 22, Lou became profoundly deaf in one ear, prompting her to begin learning sign language. She went on to become a music coordinator, SENCO, and Head Teacher of two schools, before directing an Education Action Zone and a CIC supporting children facing life barriers. A highlight was founding an Arts Fest where children performed on Birmingham’s major stages. Now active in the deaf community and national signing groups, Lou combines her love of music and sign through sign song. Lou has spent the last few years signing with choirs including Pop Voices, and is thrilled to be able to share accessible music with all.

Clare Lahive

Clare grew up in a home filled with books and instruments but no television, so music quickly became her passion. Self-taught on guitar, whistle, ukulele, and piano, she drew inspiration from her Irish heritage and her Welsh father’s beautiful baritone voice. Despite a rebellious streak at school, her musical talents unexpectedly won her a French singing competition, sparking her musical confidence. She went on to perform across the UK folk scene for 20 years, writing and harmonising as part of a duo. Clare also composed music for TV, including quirky jingles for American commercials, and in 2020, wrote 'Come Save Me' for Pop Voices during the pandemic. Clare now lives in Wales with her Cavachon, Bryn. Passionate about community music, she arranges local events and is proud to bring Pop Voices to Pembrokeshire, where she continues to share the healing joy of music with others. Clare has also had a successful corporate career working in legal and compliance for 25 years.
